ISS CEO: Mike, can you start by telling me why you are interested in the Strategic Communications Manager role at ISS?
Mike: Absolutely. ISS’s Innovation team represents the kind of dynamic, cross-disciplinary environment where my experience shines. I thrive on turning complex challenges into clear, strategic narratives that drive change. With my background spanning CRE, tech, PR, and brand storytelling, I’m excited to elevate ISS’s brand narrative and help engage stakeholders across diverse projects like UX, sustainability, and data-driven innovation.
CEO: This role requires navigating complex environments and ambiguity. How have you demonstrated that in your career?
Mike: Throughout my career, especially in commercial real estate marketing and tech innovation, I’ve faced ambiguous, fast-changing situations—whether responding to a crisis, repositioning a mall during market shifts, or translating technical jargon into investor-friendly stories. I have a knack for finding the core through-line and crafting compelling, coherent messages that align diverse teams and accelerate progress.
CEO: How do you approach creating integrated communication strategies that support business objectives?
Mike: I start with deep stakeholder analysis to understand the audience, their needs, and the business priorities. From there, I develop multi-channel communication plans that combine data-driven storytelling with visual and written content to engage audiences effectively. I ensure alignment with brand voice and measure impact to optimize strategy continuously.
CEO: Collaboration is key at ISS. Can you share an example of how you’ve worked cross-functionally?
Mike: At Broward Mall, I collaborated closely with leasing, operations, design, and external vendors to create integrated campaigns that boosted foot traffic and community engagement. More recently, I worked with UX and sustainability leads to shape narratives that connected innovation pilots to measurable business and environmental outcomes—always prioritizing open dialogue and shared ownership.
CEO: What’s your experience advising senior leadership on communications?
Mike: I’ve regularly partnered with C-suite executives and General Managers to craft key messages for investor meetings, board updates, and public relations. I excel at distilling complex data and strategy into concise, persuasive communications that inspire confidence and support decision-making.
CEO: ISS values creativity and challenging the status quo. How do you embody that?
Mike: I’m a natural creative problem solver who embraces new technology—like AI tools and immersive media—to enhance storytelling. I challenge traditional communication silos by integrating design, data, and content to build fresh, impactful narratives. I’m never afraid to push boundaries to create authentic engagement.
CEO: Tell me about a time you managed a communications project that involved multiple teams and shifting priorities.
Mike: During a major mall repositioning, we faced evolving leasing strategies and public uncertainty. I led the communication plan, working with marketing, leasing, PR, and community groups to align messaging and timing. Flexibility and frequent stakeholder check-ins were critical, and the campaign ultimately restored foot traffic and tenant confidence.
CEO: How do you measure the success of your communication initiatives?
Mike: I use a combination of quantitative metrics—like engagement rates, attendance, social reach—and qualitative feedback from stakeholders. I prepare clear reports linking communications activity to business outcomes and recommend adjustments to improve future efforts. Data-informed iteration is a cornerstone of my approach.
CEO: What unique strengths do you bring to the ISS Innovation team?
Mike: My blend of real estate, tech, and hospitality experience gives me a versatile perspective on how people interact with environments and brands. Combined with my passion for AI and data-driven storytelling, I’m well-positioned to craft narratives that resonate with diverse audiences and drive innovation-led growth at ISS.
CEO: Finally, how do you see yourself contributing to ISS’s mission and culture?
Mike: I’m motivated by collaboration, curiosity, and meaningful impact—all core to ISS’s culture. I’ll bring a supportive, can-do mindset that welcomes feedback and embraces challenge. My goal is to be a trusted advisor who helps teams communicate strategically and creatively to elevate ISS’s brand and client success globally.
